Bottom, the "lacking" effect is Negative space. Neg Space is Plain Areas of one color.

The Focal is about all you see, it is basicly alot of Clipping Masks, and Lighting Effects.

I like em. Looks like you're really into artsy stuff. The second one is pretty cool the little patterns you see in the white, the blocks on the left, the $ signs on the bottom right... all the small things.
